Introduction

WoW-MC Founder & Manager

Obblebobble has played MineCraft since it's first release in 2009 as a browser based classic mode. The interest in MineCraft persisted to today, with some occasional breaks.

The idea behind WoW-MC (Originally planned as "Warlords of MineCraft") started in 2016 and some early notes were created with little practical skills to back it up. A world build was commenced using the Crafting Azeroth map project.

I always loved WoW and really wanted some accurate representation in MineCraft, no server has ever existed with such accuracy... So I made one.

Obblebobble

This 2016 project was started with little budget plus we were faced with a challenging map height of over 1000 blocks yet restricted by MineCraft build limit. The project was abandoned with little more than a few poor-quality structures and some plugin configurations.

Come 2023, the project was reignited with new passion and improved server administration experience. WoW-MC commenced as an unnamed, solo project using the same Crafting Azeroth map as a base. The vanilla build limit was increased to ~384 blocks total, meaning we could build the map in 2-3 layers with some map editing work.

The project we see today commenced as an inspired WoW-like server in 2023, and then was adapated to be an almost 1:1 replica. It's been worked on solo for 2 years and with no advertisement, until end of 2025 where the website was finalised and open to the public, plus Discord, to start building a community and looking for additional help.

This is a true passion project for Obblebobble, and hopes to include as many people as possible to take part in an amazing adventure. Given the size of WoW, it will never truly be complete, but we can work towards an incredible world.

The current WoW-MC world has an accurate terrain map, accurate buildings with interiors (Each is being rebuilt by hand), NPCs true to the Cataclysm era world with the same items sold, quests given, names and dialogue. Items have the same details and stats, with combat/skills attempting to replicate WoW as close as possible. All features of WoW are being worked on to be implemented as best as possible. We've created functional hearthstones and Inns, achievement systems, player titles, equipment management and more.

Finally, Obblebobble has even created a WoW Private Server running the Cataclysm expansion pack so all WoW-MC implementations are accurate and true to the game of WoW back in 2011...
